Tickle Me Turquoise!

I was in search for a decent tall-boy dresser that had a little something more than pressed-wood, could make a statement while being practical, and possessed a feminine presence with a French Provincial twist. For $85, Cayman blue acrylic paint, white flat spray paint, and polyurethane I was pleased with the result.

Found this in my fave district of Little Ethiopia...a set designer's frequent stop and most reliant ally. It was beautiful and in good condition before, but lacked the excitement for someone who still wants to live in Barbie's Dream House.

Ah,much better, don't you think?

Here it  makes the corner pop in my bedroom with a white surrounding.

I tried to pose my bedroom furniture as if it were a set.  I had used the same Cayman blue on this night stand that I originally altered two years ago.  But this year it was revamped when I exchanged the knob for a professionally-bedazzled one from Anthropologie for $13 to glam it up. I know it was a lot for one knob, but it's just one of those little things that brightens my day. Besides, it properly accessorizes this flaunty character of a nightstand with these gorgeous-whistle provoking-Cabriole legs.

Enjoy the weekend!

Trés Chic

Just watched the second half of the sixth season of SATC... again. Carrie Bradshaw makes Paris that much more fabulous and takes you to being weak-in-the-knees-in-L-O-V-E with the French way of life.

Little Things with a Big Presence

The little things that brighten my day. . .

Aprons from Anthropologie

Vintage cups, saucers, and spoons

Candles-with-a-little-extra-something like this one at Anthropologie.

Pretty-packaged soaps and crystal

Buttons for a rainy-day

Carnations for every-day (they got a bad rap on Sex and the City, but deserved to be loved, too!)

Stationery...always love what Kate Spade makes!

Puppies..like this one, Peaches...my 48-hour rescue before moving to LA:(

or this one... my nephew, Blue

Orange crushes...like this "Poppy Red Kiss" hue of nail polish from Essie

Polka-Dots-and Hearts...make a good marriage, don't you think?

Love the one with the orange dots printed on the pink heart at PBTeen.

Polaroids

Places To Go, People To See, Things To Do

My entry-way

I found this bookshelf for $15 at a thrift store in West Hollywood. I am sorry I do not have a before picture to show you...it was lost somewhere along the way. The bookshelf was a white damaged piece that offered great height. I spray painted it an eggplant purple and added plywood for the top. I used a Cayman blue acrylic paint for the top and a border of the same eggplant purple.

The shelf provides a place to store and organize those odd bits of pieces that come from being a renter without a hall closet. And it fits perfectly in the space by the front door adding some color and function.

The art piece above was created with an Ikea decal and a canvas splashed in hot pink. Orange and pink together...reminds me of cartoonish ice cream colors, don't you think?

The entry way shelf was also a bargain for $3 from a thrift store in Santa Monica.  It originally had a shabby-chic white appeal that could have been left untouched.  But, I had spray paint of a Robin's nest color that I was dying to try so this shelf played the victim.  I have the essentials that I need for my day there, which is perfect for someone who frequently leaves their keys in the front door and wallet in the driver's seat overnight. Plus, I don't forget the canvas bag when going to the market, which has a fun graphic of Mother Nature on it. There really are so many cute canvas bags out there and so much better for the environment.  Go out and buy one today if you don't use one already!

Book Clubs Just Got Brighter

Punch up your library with these classics, bound by cloth covers in new hues...if only they came with the vintage smell of a real oldie.  Coralie Bickford-Smith designed these covers for Penguin Books. Great idea for gift-giving or stocking stuffers.

Sunny Sunday

Came across a Leona Naess song, Sunny Sunday, while looking at old J. Crew videos.  I think this song was perfect for the Prague video  and appropriate for today. Good for a crisp, cool Sunny Sunday morning with tea and a good read.
